How is your workplace wellbeing?

At OFS, we strive for balance both in our organization and in our designs, outfitting workspaces from floor to ceiling and beginning to end with creative workspace solutions so people can thrive,  where they work, heal, learn, and play. We also know that wellbeing at work extends far beyond having the right furniture and finishes.

The current workforce is more stressed than ever. Surveys show that as many as 72% of workers identified their jobs as the biggest cause of stress and anxiety. Stress from unrealistic workloads and deadlines to job security and the desire for work life balance.

The results?

  • Stress related neck pain and headaches
  • Low back pain
  • Insomnia
  • Foggy thinking
  • High blood pressure
  • Short tempered
  • Digestive issues
  • Weight gain

It is shown that stressed out employees have higher medical costs and sick days

How can Yoga and Ayurveda help?

Yoga is considered one of many types of complementary and integrative medicine approaches. Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines that may help you achieve peacefulness of body and mind. This can help you relax and manage stress and anxiety.

The core components of hatha yoga and most general yoga classes are:

Poses

Yoga poses, also called postures, are a series of movements designed to increase strength and flexibility. Poses range from simple to difficult. In a simple pose, you might lie on the floor while completely relaxed. A difficult posture may have you stretching your physical limits.

Breathing

Controlling your breathing is an important part of yoga. Yoga teaches that controlling your breathing can help you control your body and quiet your mind.

Meditation

In yoga, you may incorporate meditation or relaxation. Meditation may help you learn to be more mindful and aware of the present moment without judgment.

Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” The principles of many of the natural healing systems now familiar in the West have their roots in Ayurveda, including Homeopathy and Polarity Therapy. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind and consciousness according to one’s own individual constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance.
